Rooftop Fall Protection
Colleges and universities tend to have limited space on campus, meaning that buildings often have small or unusual footprints. In many cases, older or historic buildings are still in use which, in general, are smaller than more recently constructed buildings. For these reasons, educational facilities tend to have little available rooftop space, and this space is often tightly packed with mechanical equipment (HVAC, etc.).
This makes working on the rooftop for equipment maintenance or roofing repairs especially dangerous. Dakota Safety provides a variety of fall protection guardrail and handrail systems to keep personnel safe when working in elevated areas. We offer portable and non-penetrating guardrails for passive fall protection. These systems are easy to install and can be moved between work areas, eliminating the need for more costly setups that would enclose the entire roof.
We can provide rooftop guardrails with custom paint jobs to match your school’s color scheme. We also offer architectural guardrail systems that provide a more aesthetically-pleasing style, and StealthRail guardrails that fold flat when not in use for a cleaner look.
All our safety guardrails are fully compliant with OHSA fall protection 1910 and rated for up to 200 lbs. structural loads. If needed, Dakota Safety can also provide special D300 Series guardrails, which are rated for 300 lbs.—a 50% safety factor over OSHA guidelines.
We offer access ladders with safety cages for added safety when workers are climbing up to or down from rooftops or elevated areas. Visual warning line systems are available to delineate changes in roof elevation and warn personnel of potential fall hazards.
