Introduction to Natural Catalytic Conversion (NCC) Technology

Course Number - NCC-I1-2022

Provider Number - 10009134

Explore how Natural Catalytic Conversion as an indoor air and surface quality technology improves the safety, health, and wellness of the building occupants through continuous, no-touch pathogen reduction. Attendees will learn how NCC is an active pathogen reduction system differing from passive ventilation filtering systems and how NCC can help in achieving Energy Use Intensity (EUI) reduction, sustainability certifications, and healthy building objectives.

Prerequisite Knowledge:
Basic understanding of building design and operation.

HSW Justification:
Natural Catalytic Conversion (NCC) technology creates disinfecting oxidizing molecules (primarily hydrogen peroxide) that supplement standard episodic cleaning procedures by continuously neutralizing viruses (including virus that causes SARS COVID 19), bacteria (including Hospital Acquired Infections - HAI’s), pathogens (including allergens) and odors, allowing for safer, healthier, more pleasant building environments.

Learning Objective 1:
Review pathogen reduction, application to building wellness and different building product technologies for pathogen reduction

Learning Objective 2:
Gain an understanding of Natural Catalytic Conversion (NCC) as an active pathogen reduction process as compared to passive filtering techniques, neutralizing pathogens in both the air and on surfaces which can lead to modifications and reductions in other infection prevention processes.

Learning Objective 3:
Recognize how to incorporate NCC technology-based products into standard building components, including suspended acoustical ceilings, air conveyance systems and stand-alone, plug and play units.

Learning Objective 4:
Infer the lower Energy Use Intensity (EUI) of NCC products and how that can contribute to sustainable design, net-zero energy and zero carbon goals.
