Description
SafetyRail 2000 Roof Guard Rail System
Non-Penetrating OSHA-Compliant Roof Edge Fall Protection
SafetyRail 2000 is a non-penetrating, passive fall protection system for workplace safety that can be used from rooftop to ground-level applications. Because the system is anchored by weighted baseplates rather than roof fasteners, it can be used as a portable, permanent, or temporary roof edge protection solution while preserving roof integrity.
The modular guardrail system is commonly used for commercial rooftops, industrial facilities, work zones, mezzanines, rail platforms, ramps, and elevated maintenance areas where OSHA-compliant passive fall protection is required.
Built for Modular Roof Edge Protection
No Roof Penetration
Weighted baseplates eliminate the need for roof drilling in standard layouts.
OSHA-Compliant
Designed to meet OSHA guardrail requirements when installed with required returns and outriggers.
Portable or Permanent
Suitable for temporary rooftop work zones or permanent edge protection systems.
Fast Installation
Simple modular assembly using rail sections, cast bases, and locking pins.
How SafetyRail 2000 Works
Rail sections are constructed of 1-5/8" steel tubing and secure into heavy cast iron bases with four receiver ports. The four-port base design allows the rails to be configured in multiple directions for straight runs, corners, returns, and rooftop work-zone layouts.
When the bases are installed with a 90° return at each end of a run, the combined mass and installation geometry create an OSHA-compliant non-penetrating roof guardrail system.
Basic Use & Common Applications
SafetyRail 2000 creates an OSHA-compliant barrier for permanent or temporary roof edge protection installations. The system eliminates the trip hazards commonly associated with intermediate counterweights used in other portable guardrail systems.
- Rooftop edge protection
- Temporary rooftop work zones
- Commercial and industrial roof access areas
- Mechanical equipment service zones
- Construction sites and dig sites
- Mezzanines and elevated platforms
- Rail car platforms and loading areas
- Crowd control and restricted-access barriers

OSHA Layout Requirements
Outriggers or returns must be used at the beginning and end of each danger-side run for OSHA-compliant non-penetrating layouts. This applies whether the protected run is short or long.
Outriggers are standard rail kits connected at approximately 90° to the danger-side run. They stabilize the system and help the guardrail meet OSHA load requirements at the run ends.
System Options
- Step-Rail systems for roof elevation changes
- Raised Mid-Rail systems for ductwork clearance
- LP Outrigger systems for conduit or rooftop obstructions
- SG200 sliding cantilever gate systems
- Finishing rails for ladder landings
- EPDM and BUR roof surface protection pads
Independent Test Results
- SafetyRail 2000 systems comply with OSHA requirements for roof edge protection
- The top rail withstands 200 lb horizontal and vertical loads
- The midpoint of the top rail deflected to 40.75” under 200 lb vertical load testing
- The mid rail withstands 150 lb force loads in vertical and horizontal directions
- Testing conducted by GME Consultants, Minneapolis, MN
