Collapsible Safety Rail for Pinnacle Bank Arena
Pinnacle Bank Arena
Installed Spring 2013
The newly-constructed Pinnacle Bank Arena, home to the University of Nebraska (Lincoln) Cornhuskers basketball teams, was in need of a rooftop fall protection system. A variety of equipment for the facility’s mechanical and climate control systems is located on its roof, and the arena’s maintenance workers require safety railings when working on this equipment.
To preserve the arena’s clean roof lines, the architect specified a collapsible railing system that can be hidden from public view when not in use. Dakota Safety recommended the StealthRail system that can easily be folded down, with the rails themselves resting on the roof and out of sight. When in use, the StealthRail system’s vertical safety railings are simply lifted into position and pinned securely to non-penetrating bases in the upright position with hitch pins.
Working with a Lincoln-area roofing contractor, Dakota Safety was able to get the StealthRail fall protection railings installed while the arena was still under construction but near completion. The installed collapsible rail system meets all applicable safety standards and the architect’s aesthetic requirements. (without penetrating their new roof)
